Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Repairs fall into two groups. Trenchless methods, such as lining the old pipe or pulling a new pipe through it, disturb less of the yard, while open trench excavation digs up the line and disturbs the most surface. The pipe's condition and the site decide which fits. Drain cleaning may come first when a camera finds a clog, and water damage restoration follows a backup that reached the floor.

The camera shows the pipe's defects, material, size, depth, and connections before anyone chooses lining or replacement. Roots, bends, offset joints, and cracks all affect the choice of method.

The length and depth of the pipe, the repair method, the pipe material, and what sits above it, such as driveways, trees, or other utilities, all change the price. Open trench repairs leave more surface to restore afterward. Get a free estimate

Rules differ by utility. In some Metro Atlanta systems, the homeowner owns the private sewer pipe from the house up to where it meets the utility's line, and the utility maintains the main. Ask your own utility where the line changes hands. Plumbing repair covers the pipes inside the house.

Older sewer lines are commonly cast iron, clay, asbestos cement, or Orangeburg, a layered tar paper pipe, and newer ones are PVC. The material shows on the camera inspection. A failing line can also leak into the soil, and leak detection helps trace it.
