For a Fulton County sewer customer, the sewer pipe from the home to the property line is the owner's to repair, even when the clog is under the county's strip along the street. The county clears a blockage there only for a serious public-health threat, with your plumber present and a signed release.
In January 2025 Fulton County Public Works and county and city officials scheduled a town hall for South Fulton residents who still have septic tanks, to discuss extending sanitary sewer service to their neighborhoods. The announcement says only that residents can hear more about the process; it gives no cost and no requirement to connect. A septic system installation stays a separate choice for now.
Fulton County says that if a septic system is disturbed during any renovation, such as a pool, deck, or addition, all work must stop until the Board of Health issues a repair permit. You also sign a statement that you and your contractor agreed who pays to restore it.
